Project Overview
For my senior capstone project, I developed a full-scale album re-branding and marketing campaign centered around the band LANY and their album Malibu Nights. The project included original cover art designs for both CD and vinyl formats, promotional merchandise, billboard mockups, and a companion mobile app prototype. The goal was to build a cohesive visual identity for the album while creating a realistic, engaging rollout experience across digital and physical touch points.
Creative Process
I began by selecting LANY as the focal artist, drawn to their visual style and tone, which aligned with my design sensibilities. From there, I created three unique album cover concepts and extended the branding to merchandise items like t-shirts and phone cases, along with large-format promotional materials such as billboards. To enhance the user experience and interactivity, I designed a mobile app prototype using InVision, featuring key fan-focused elements: tour dates, music videos, lyrics, and an integrated merch shop.
Concept
The concept was driven by the idea of creating an immersive fan experience that felt both personal and polished. LANY’s aesthetic—modern, emotional, and minimal—guided the visual direction across all assets. Each design choice, from the color palette to typography and layout, was made to reflect the mood of the album and the lifestyle of its listeners. The mobile app tied it all together, offering a digital extension of the brand that gave fans direct access to content and community.
Programs
Adobe XD, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
To go along with my project, I created a mobile app prototype using Invision. In the app I have four main features: upcoming tour dates, a music video section, a section that provides the lyrics to their songs, and a section to purchase merchandise.
